Deepan Chatterjee - I am a Licensed Psychologist who joined GBCC in January of 2009. I use therapy to foster change in a person’s life by making them aware of individual choices and the consequences that come from making those choices. I believe personal responsibility is a key to achieving lasting emotional growth, and I try to help my clients realize that they have personal control in the health and well-being of their own lives. I use an active directive style of therapy that borrows heavily from cognitive-behavioral techniques. My areas of expertise include mood and anxiety disorders, co-occurring disorders, grief counseling, stress management, and crisis interventions. Apart from being licensed as a psychologist, I am also Board-certified to supervise clinicians who work in the area of drug and alcohol addiction, as well as substance abuse.

I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Howard University in Washington D.C. and completed my clinical internship and postdoctoral training at the maximum-security Patuxent Institution in Jessup, MD. Prior to that, I earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology also from Howard University and my Undergraduate degree from Bethany College in West Virginia. I have over nine years experience in providing evaluation and counseling services to children, adolescents, adults, families and criminal offenders.
